One of the most promising young sopranos in the Italian opera panorama today, Claudia Pavone has already performed in some of the most prestigious Italian theatres and worked with Maestri of the calibre of Riccardo Muti.
Claudia first became involved in music through a children’s choir, the Pueri Cantores di Vicenza, directed by Maestro Roberto Fioretto. She then started studying at the Arrigo Pedrollo Conservatory in Vicenza and, afterwards, attended the Agostino Steffani Conservatory in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy. Here, she obtained her Diploma, in 2012, with maximum marks and honours, under the guidance of soprano Elisabetta Tandura, with whom she still studies in order to perfect her performances.
She has won many opera competitions amongst which are: the Concorso Lirico Internazionale Ruggero Leoncavallo in Montalto Uffugo (2012) where she won a special prize the “Miglior voce per Leoncavallo” (“Best voice for Leoncavallo”); the prestigious 1^st Concorso Internazionale Scaligero, Maria Callas, Verona (2013); the Concorso Internazionale di Canto Giacinto Prandelli, Brescia (2013); the Concorso Lirico Città di Bologna, where she won the “Renata Tebaldi” special prize and the “Giusy Devinu” scholarship; the international operatic competition Ferruccio Tagliavini in Graz, Austria (2013), where she won both the overall first prize, and the “Corriere della Sera, Premio della Critica” (Critics Prize); and, lastly, the Concorso lirico Internazionale Marcella Pobbe, Vicenza (2014).
In October 2013 she made her debut in the role of Mimi in La Bohème at the Teatro Re Grillo di Licata, in Sicily.
In February 2014, she was Gasparina in Campiello, score by Wolf-Ferrari, at the Teatro Sociale di Rovigo and at the Teatro Malibran in Venice. During the 2014/2015 season, she made her debut in the role of Laura in Der Bettelstudent at the Landestheater Niederbayern, Germany.
In Summer 2015, she was at the Ravenna Festival with a contemporary opera “L’amor che move il sole e l’altre stelle” (Love which moves the sun and other stars), a video opera by Adriano Guarnieri, performed again, the following year, at the Festival Dei Due Mondi in Spoleto (2016).
In July 2015, she was selected by Maestro Riccardo Muti to become a student at the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy where she studied for the role of Violetta for a concert performance of La Traviata at the Teatro Alighieri, Ravenna, in August 2016.
From October 2016 to January 2017, she again interpreted the role of Violetta in La Traviata, this time conducted by Francesco Lanzillotta and produced by film director Alice Rohrwacher, who chose Prada as the costume designer. This production toured theatres in Northern Italy, stopping at: Reggio Emilia, Modena, Corno, Bergam0, Brescia, Cremona and Pavia.
In March and April 2017 she was Frasquita in Carmen, with Calixto Bieito‘s set design and conducted by Maestro Myung-Whun Chung, staged at Il Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice. She then remained at La Fenice, from May to September 2017, in the leading role of the opera La Traviata, conducted by Diego Mateheuz, by Francesco Ivan Ciampa and, after, by Enrico Calesso.
During this period, June - July 2017, she was involved in the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Opera di Firenze, and went to Palazzo Pitti to film a fellinian production of “La Traviata”, directed by Alfredo Corno and conducted by Sebastiano Rolli, in which she, once again, played the leading role.
Since November 2017 she has been active, both on the Lombardy circuit and at Jesi, in her new role as Gilda, the daughter of Rigoletto, the hunchback, in the opera by Giuseppe Verdi, directed by Elena Barbalich and conducted by Maestro Pietro Rizzo.
In December and January 2018, she returned to La Fenice, in Venice, in the role of Violetta Valery, directed by Robert Carsen, conducted by Maestro Enrico Calesso.
In May she debuts the role of Fiordiligi in the Cosi fan tutte at the Opera de Las Palmas and plays the following month Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at the Teatro la Fenice in Venice.
In July she is Gilda at the Macerata Opera Festival - Sferisterio and has an extraordinary personal, public and critical success for all the performances.
The month of August is dedicated to a tour of personal recitals and concerts in Japan.
The year 2019 ends with two productions of Traviata in the theaters of Naples and Venice.
Claudia has also sung: Mozart’s Requiem, la Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, and the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi at the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza. In March 2015, she performed with the San Remo Symphony Orchestra in the Basilica of San Siro in San Remo. She has also performed, “Salve Regina” by Handel and “Exulate, Jubilate” by Mozart, with the San Remo Symphony Orchestra, both in Brescia and in San Remo. She has performed “Stabat Mater” by Boccherini both in the Teatro Salvini di Pitigliano and in the Cathedral of San Lorenzo di Grosseto with the Città di Grosseto Symphony Orchestra. During the XXIV Palaces of St Petersburg International Festival, she sang in two concerts. In one, conducted by Maestro Ji Hyoun Baek, she performed “Stabat Mater” by G.B. Pergolesi in the Marble Palace of the Russian State Museum, and in the other, conducted by Maestro Giuseppe Sabbatini, she sang “arias from operas” at the Konstantine Palace.
